OSU Institute of Technology at the MidAmerica Industrial Park understands the importance of preparing youth for the future and believes strongly that part of the process is to expose them to the many educational and career opportunities that are available. OSU Institute of Technology/MidAmerica strives to promote technical education and careers through a variety of programs targeted at youth as detailed below.

OSU Institute of Technology/MAIP has provided experience for local youth that help them get prepared for the world of work and post-secondary education. These programs are designed to not only expose the participating youth to technology, but also to build workplace skills which can help participant find and keep employment.

The center has enjoyed a strong partnership with the Thunderbird Youth Academy from many years and provides technical education experiences for selected cadets in the areas of Electrical/Electronics, Design Drafting and Machining Technologies. These experience provides these young people the opportunity to build employability skills and get a taste of the technical world.

Probably one of the most popular programs at the center; this program utilizes LEGO Mindstorm learning kits which allow students to design, build and program various mechanical and electrical devices. Students learn how to interface various input devices with their creations to complete given challenges. These program can be delivered to public school entities, church groups, civic organizations or individuals. Click the link above to see students hard at work in this program.
