Situation Mrs. Marjorie Simpson (359 Evergreen Terrace, Springfield, OK 74007) has written a claim letter to you, the customer service manager of Computer Barn (4012 Floppy Drive, Motherboard, OK 73987). Mrs. Simpson had purchased a computer from a Computer Barn outlet on South Wood Drive in Okmulgee. The Okmulgee Hunks o’ Junk Gazette had advertised that the computer came "loaded with a full version of Microsoft Office XP." (Mrs. Simpson has a copy of this advertisement.) When Mrs. Simpson booted up her computer, she expected access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer, and FrontPage, including the extensive graphics package. All she got was WordPad and three pictures of doughnuts. Mrs. Simpson wants you to upgrade her software to include the promised applications, including graphics and multiple fonts. She wants a computer technician from Computer Barn to come to her home to load the software on her computer. Task You agree that your company did not meet the terms of the advertisement and will provide Mrs. Simpson with the full version of Office XP as promised. Write an adjustment letter to Mrs. Simpson using the direct pattern. Include a resale statement. Use full block format as discussed in class. Design your own letterhead. Use the due date of this assignment as the date for your letter. Copy to me. Put the words "Adjustment Letter" below the c: line as shown on the letter template. Your final letter must reflect the basic qualities of business writing and acceptable business letter format. Please staple all process drafts to the final version of the letter you submit. Due Date: TBA [Back to
