Automotive Department

Students at OSU Institute of Technology are eligible to have their vehicles repaired in the Collision Technology Program of the Automotive/HEVI Technology Department. Vehicles should not be older than 10 years. The Shop Instructor or Program Chair must approve all exceptions.
To be eligible for these services, all vehicles must have:

  • a. Current Oklahoma Safety Sticker
  • b. Current OSU Institute of Technology Parking Permit
  • c. Current License Plate
  • d. Insurance Verification
Campus Post Office

OSU Institute of Technology operates a contract postal station located on the Southwest end of the Student Union next to the Student Union Bookstore. Window service hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. except on university or U.S. holidays. The lobby remains open during building hours. Normal post office services are available except for C.O.D. and money orders. Students receive mail on campus either through a campus post office box, general delivery or a residence hall box. Boxes can be rented for a small charge per semester with the charge being based on box size. Box assignments and rental payments are made at the Campus Post Office. General Delivery mail must be picked up at the post office window. Students living in the residence halls receive their mail in their residence hall. Students living in Alexander North, Alexander South, England and Hannigan Halls are encouraged to obtain a post office box. Child Care Center

The OSU Institute of Technology Child Care Center is open Monday through Friday, when school is in session, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. All currently enrolled students are eligible to enroll their children (ages 6 weeks to 12 years) in the campus Child Care Center. The OSU Institute of Technology Child Care Center is in compliance with fire, health and licensing standards required by the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services, and participates in the Oklahoma State Department of Education Child Nutrition Program. Participant fees are the following:

Computer Laboratories

The Library has an open access computer lab for all students. Both PC and Mac platforms are available, with a variety of software and Internet access. Hours may vary according to semester. Call 293-5384 or 293-5080 for more information.

Additional computer labs are located in the Donald W. Reynolds Technology Center, the Noble Center for Advancing Technology, and Visual Communications building, as well as in most of the academic instructional areas. Hours of availability may vary due to scheduled classes. Contact the appropriate division office or an instructor for more information regarding use of these facilities.

Copy Center

The Copy Center, located in the Culinary Arts/Communications Services building, offers duplicating, collating and binding services to the campus. The Center has a wide selection of paper from which to choose for projects ranging from resumes and reports to formal presentations. All services must be paid for when orders are placed. Counseling and Access Services

OSU Institute of Technology provides individual and group counseling, education on various mental health topics, crisis intervention, and referrals to community resources when needed. Common mental health concerns addressed in counseling include stress management, anger management, relationship issues, alcohol/drug abuse and depression.

Workforce Oklahoma

Workforce Oklahoma is located in the Workforce Center building (south of the OSU Institute of Technology administration building or north of Covelle Hall). Friendly knowledgeable staff assists Okmulgee County customers through an integrated "one-stop" system in accordance with the 1998 Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Information from approximately 18 mandated partners concerning core services and potential intensive services are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Workforce Oklahoma.

Learning Resource Center

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) is home to the Library and College Readiness Center. The LRC operates as an integrated unit to provide services, technology access and materials for students.

The Library is the source for information, study and research on campus. The library's collection includes access to information in books, periodicals, electronic references and databases, videos, reserve material, and the Internet. The Library Director, Reference Librarian, Library Technical Assistants and work-study students are available to provide assistance in locating information. Materials not readily available in the campus Library may be obtained through interlibrary loan.

Office of Admissions and Records

All enrollment and class registration activities at OSU Institute of Technology are coordinated through the Office of Admissions and Records. The Office of Admissions and Records provides information to prospective students on OSU Institute of Technology's programs of study, as well as serving as a first point of contact for all new students who wish to be admitted to the university. The Office provides new students with initial academic advisement prior to their first semester of enrollment, and issues student identification cards for all students. Students who experience academic difficulties at OSU Institute of Technology will be advised through the Office of Admissions and Records of any academic notice, academic probation or academic suspension matters.

Oklahoma Department of Human Services

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services staff is available in the Workforce Oklahoma Complex (south of OSU Institute of Technology administration building or north of Covelle Hall). OSU Institute of Technology students may make application for food stamps or any DHS program daily Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or until 6:00 p.m. each Tuesday evening.

Oklahoma Employment Security Commission

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission is located in the Workforce Center building (south of OSU Institute of Technology Administration building or north of Covelle Hall). Services include computerized job search, resume completion, Internet access for job listings and job information, unemployment insurance and Veterans services. Services are also provided for employers seeking qualified applicants for job openings, including proficiency testing and pre-screening as well as labor market information. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, open until 6:00 p.m. each Tuesday.

Sponsored Student Services

The OSU Institute of Technology Sponsored Student Services unit serves as liaison and facilitator for all students whose college expenses are either subsidized or paid in full by some agency other than the student or family (i.e.: Veterans Administration, Indian Nations, Out-of state Rehabilitation Services, etc.). The exceptions to this are those students funded by Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, and those sponsored by the local county WIA program. In addition, this unit administrates the University's International Scholars Information and application program.

An auxiliary support service coordinated by Sponsored Student Services is administration of particular student short-term emergency loan funds designed to address unexpected expenses (prescriptions, etc.). These funds are made available by private entities not a part of Oklahoma State University or the State of Oklahoma.

Student Health Services

Students may obtain medical advice without charge from the college physician. Students who need hospitalization, x-rays or lab work are referred to the Okmulgee Memorial Hospital and must pay for the cost of the services received. The college physician can write a prescription to the pharmacy of the student's choice but the student is responsible for payment. The OSU Institute of Technology Infirmary, located in the Student Union, is open Monday through Friday when school is in session, from 11:30 a.m. until the doctor has seen all patients who are waiting.
Students are advised to carry health insurance while in school. Several national insurance companies offer low-cost group medical insurance coverage for college students. More information concerning student health insurance plans is available through the Student Financial Services Office.

Tutorial Services

Peer tutors are available at the Library in the Learning Resource Center, at no cost to the student. In addition, students may make appointments with faculty for help outside of class. Counselors, advisors, and staff will help students connect with appropriate resources for tutorial assistance.

Watch Repair

Watch repair is available for OSU Institute of Technology students, employees and retirees. Items for repair must be checked-in to an authorized person at the take-in counter in the Donald W. Reynolds Technology Center, Room 241. A receipt will be issued for items left and must be presented upon claiming of articles. The customer will be charged for repair parts plus a nominal service charge. Hours of operation are determined and posted each semester. Items for repair may be picked up or left only during hours of operation. Students perform all work; therefore, the department reserves the right to refuse jobs inappropriate for student projects.

Workforce Oklahoma Complex

OSU Institute of Technology, in cooperation with other state and federal agencies, makes available special support services to students. OSU Institute of Technology's Workforce Oklahoma Complex houses state offices of Oklahoma Employment Security Commission, Department of Human Services, Eastern Workforce Development Board, Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services, and the M-Power program as well as the federal "Green Thumb" program office.

M-Power Program

The M-Power program is located in the Workforce Oklahoma Center building (south of the OSU Institute of Technology administration building or north of Covelle Hall.) It is a comprehensive program, which focuses on individual choices and career plans. Instructional methods include computer based training, campus seminars and workshops, instructor tutoring and monitoring, small work groups, peer tutoring, individual research, team activities and internships. An individual career plan specifies competencies and areas of study needed in five components: Academics, Technical/Business Skills, Employability, Life skills, and Work skills. Programs are designed to bridge the gap between student's current skill level and the skills necessary for success in their chosen occupations.
