Construction Management Graduates from the Construction Management Option can look forward to and expect career opportunities with general contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers or other industry related businesses. The degree program emphasizes supervisory, administrative and management responsibilities coupled with technical hands-on knowledge. Graduates can qualify for positions such as office engineer, field engineer, safety engineer, superintendent, project engineer, foreman, estimator, scheduler, expediter, quality control engineer, inspector or independent contractor.

A few examples of the multiple job and career opportunities available to graduates of Construction Technologies are:

A Project Engineer (sometimes called Project Coordinator) is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and the Superintendent in Commercial Construction Project management and administration. The Project Engineer must have good organizational, communications, and computer skills. She/he may be responsible for much of the following: project documentation, communications, coordination of work, material control, submittal reviews, updates of the progress schedule, assists with cost control and project close out. The Project Engineer's position typically leads to the position of Project Manager.

A Field Project Engineer (sometimes called Field Coordinator) is responsible for all layout responsibilities throughout every phase of construction. The Field Engineer must have good organizational and communications skills, and know how to use a variety of survey equipment (level, transit, theodolite, total station). She/he may be responsible for much of the following: site layout, establishing grade elevations, establishing layout controls, building layout, quality control, assist in site supervision, coordination of work, and safety supervision. The Field Engineer's position typically leads to the position of Project Superintendent.
