Auto Collision Repair Students Taking Skills Across State

For the next eight weeks, the "classroom" will move from campus lab to a working shop for 22 interns in OSU-Okmulgee's Automotive Collision Repair Technology program. Read More.

Automotive Collision Repair

Automotive collision technicians repair vehicles which are involved in collisions to pre accident condition. When vehicles are damaged this requires repair, replacement and refinishing of exterior and interior components comprising the vehicle body.

Graduates of the program are employed as collision technicians and refinish specialists. With experience, graduates qualify for positions as body shop managers, paint specialists, material and equipment representatives, insurance adjusters, shop owners, and refinish equipment specialists.

Internships

Internships are integral learning experiences in the automotive programs at OSU-Okmulgee. They allow students to take interpersonal and technical skills learned in the classroom and hone them in the workplace. During the internship experience, students lay the foundation for success in the workplace by doing self-directed learning and career exploration. The programs include progressive and cooperative technical work experiences and internships during the last year.

Internships in the Collision field are most often dealership and/or independent sponsored. Often, internships turn into full time employment following graduation. For more information, contact Suzy Wiemer at 918-293-5390.

Capstone

The Capstone experience at the end of a program of study allows students the opportunity to reflect on, share with others, and build on their internship experiences.

Facilities

OSU-Okmulgee's Automotive Collision Repair Technology program is housed in a facility that includes the latest in equipment and technology. Supported by industry partners, the program provides specially designed shops and classrooms to allow students to access information, solve problems in teams, contact facilitators as needed, and gain the hands-on experience as they need it.
